Mrs. Lucilla Garcia

My name is Lucilla Garcia. I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.  I have worked for Edcouch Elsa ISD from 1998-2014.  During this time, I have taught fourth, second, and first grade.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas Pan American as well as a Master's Degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University.
As an educator, I aspire to exemplify excellence and promote positive standards to enhance the education of ALL students.
It is  my philosophy that in order to be an effective teacher, I must be able to empathize and adapt to students' needs. An effective teacher must view students as individuals with interests and styles unique to their lives. I feel that children learn best with a variety of strategies, approaches, and high expectations. Teachers should endeavor to continue learning themselves. This ensures that classrooms are informed, accurate, and well-prepared. It is a great privilege and responsibility to teach. It is my goal to inspire others to teach to provide children with a strong academic foundation and a love of learning.
